Many Kelowna food trucks have come and gone but these are my top 5 favourites for their quality of food, social media presence and reliability. One of my pet peeves as a consumer looking to invest in local food trucks and street food culture is when a mobile business doesn’t invest enough attention to social media.
If we can’t find a food truck’s schedule with ease then it is going to be very difficult to support local food trucks. Luckily, for these 5 food truck businesses have put time and effort into their online presence which means you’ll probably be able to find them easily too! Click on the website of each food truck or follow their social media channels in order to stay up to date and in the know.

CrAsian
The team behind CrAsian is the same amazing team behind Provisions at Kettle and BoxcAr at BNA. This team is the unsung heroes of the culinary food scene in Kelowna (which is why they are a stop on our food tour!). Each week they switch up menu items inventing new dishes and switching out en lieu of seasonal favourites. Go visit Courtney and Meiko Koga at any of their 3 establishments and you will not be disappointed!
Their CrAsian food truck is the business that put them on the map. These sisters bought a food truck on hit the streets of Kelowna serving unique fusion dishes that they grew up with. Check out the video to see their delicious mac n’ kimcheese balls, toddler and mama approved! Their fish tacos and vegan friendly salad rolls are the perfect lunch to satiate you in the Okanagan sun.
You can find CAsian all over Kelowna and Penticton so make sure you check out their calendar for all up to date events and locations.
2. YLW Tacos
This fixture on Hwy 97 is more like a food trailer. It is long and houses 3 cooks and 1 cashier. It is a popular stop along the highway with its convenient picnic tables. What I love about YLW is their protein choices. You can grab a taco plate with 3 different proteins of your choice, from pork belly, pulled pork, chicken, beef, fish, shrimp and more…you’ll have to come back to try them all. This time around I got the lunch plate for $13 with pork belly and took it to a local park not far away – check out the video!
3. The Lobster Pot
This is by far the most decadent and high end food truck plate in Kelowna. At a whopping $18+ tax for 1 lobster roll you can expect large chunks of Canadian maritime lobster. Their menu is simple with only 2 choices; a) the maritime classic served up cold on a toasted bun and tossed in garlic aoli. b) warm lobster on a toasted bun with garlic butter.
Which would you choose?
This year you can find them at “gasoline alley” in the Harley Davidson parking lot also on Hwy 97.
4. Surfside California Tacos
I’m not sure if it is a British Columbian thing but we love our tacos out here (I mean hello, Tacofino!). This is the third food truck that offers an excellent taco on this list alone. I opted for their famous fish tacos this time around (see video) and it was fresh and flavourful.
You can find them right next to The Lobster Pot this year but check for their schedule online to see if they’ll switch it up in 2021.
5. Broken Anchor
A result of the pandemic, Broken Anchor was formerly The Table, a restaurant at the popular fish mongers Codfather’s on Gordon Rd. Owner, Ross Derrik pivoted with a new plan and thus created Broken Anchor. With eased restrictions you can now head to their physical location or you can stop and visit the food truck housed at a local fruit stand on Benvoulin Rd.
While the food truck has odd hours and only operates 2-4 days per week you can expect to see them more in 2021.
Broken Anchor is serving up one of the most unique menus in all of Kelowna… Southern Food, ya’ll! An incredible fried chicken sandwich with maple hot sauce and a crawfish boil with chorizo made for a tasty trip to southern USA while here at home in Kelowna!
