The Okanagan wine region is fast becoming on par with wine regions that are akin with luxury: Napa, Tuscany, Bordeaux. While the Okanagan region itself only has a few luxury hotels and resorts, it does make up for it with luxury stays at Okanagan wineries, and some of the finest at that.
If you’re looking for a group stay, a romantic getaway or to book a retreat, you’ll find some of the most luxurious stays in British Columbia located here in the Okanagan.
Quails’ Gate Winery – The Lake House in West Kelowna
Located in West Kelowna and owned by the much beloved Quails’ Gate Winery is this gorgeous 5 bedroom 3 bathroom lakefront property. Up to 14 guests can enjoy the views, chef’s kitchen, hot tub and all being steps from the lake. While it may not be nestled amongst the vineyard as you’d normally image a wine country stay hosted by a winery, it is on the same property as their estate vineyard, restaurant and tasting room.

I’d suggest reservations at the onsite restaurant but with the indoor chef’s kitchen and outdoor grill, maybe not.
O’Rourke Log Home – Lake Country
O’Rourke Peak Cellars is a gem in the Lake Country area in the North Okanagan. It’s a personal favourite for food and their delicious wines that are always impressive crowd pleasers. You can stay at either a cottage within the vineyard or their log home. The O’Rourke family are builders with a keen eye for luxury Okanagan architecture – that is architecture that knows how to appeal to the Okanagan sensibilities and utilize natural elements with natural materials. You can stay at the log home by renting out the entire property or share the space with others and rent a suite.

Summerhill Winery Estate House – Kelowna
Summerhill Winery in Kelowna is known for its onsite pyramid used to age wine and a backdrop for many wedding photos over the years. They also offer some of the best organic and biodynamic sparkling wines in the valley. Their retro California inspired stay, a short “nature walk” away from the vineyard and pyramid, would make for the perfect honeymoon stay and backdrop to pop some of their bubbly. The views, pool and retro interior (without being kitsch) can be enjoyed by a group of 18. Three levels with 8 bedrooms and a helipad for an arrival in style.

Therapy Vineyards Inn – Naramata Bench
Therapy Vineyards has undergone a major rebrand when it comes to labels and design. What was once a kitschy play on Freud and fun illustrations of the famed therapist are now gone. The renovated tasting room offers a rooftop patio, sleek and modern aesthetic and their incredible inn. Guests and patrons now have the opportunity to stay, wake up, dine, and play while being surrounded by the vineyard and the a stellar view of the Okanagan Lake. This is what you dream up when you think luxury stays at Okanagan wineries. Instead of requiring to rent out the entire property or house like the previous wineries offer, you can rent suites fitted with bathrooms, fireplace and balconies. You’ll then be sharing the amenities with others but this luxury stay is made more affordable.

Hester Creek Villas is one of the most luxurious stays offering quality rooms and a killer view you’d expect to find in Napa Valley. Located at Hester Creek you’re only steps away from a delicious dining experience and quality wines grown in Canada’s only desert. This property, like almost all suites suggested in this article, sell out during peak season and availability can be hard to come by in low season. Each suite has its own fire place, outdoor patio with a view and the concierge is very helpful, having set aside wine for us as we arrived after the tasting room closed.
