The list is nearly endless when it comes to finding things to do on your next vacation, but, if you find yourself near the water, you absolutely have to head out on a boat.
Maybe sitting on a boat doesn’t appeal to you? Sitting isn’t all you can do on a boat! There are many different things you can do out on the water, ensuring there’s something for you to do that you will love.
Catch a Show
Catching a show is always a great thing to do when you find yourself in a new place. Even small towns host musicians at local bars, but many seaside places have large boats that host musical acts too.
That includes coastal towns, but it also includes cities located next to lakes and rivers. For example, the General Jackson Showboat glides on the waters of the Cumberland River. This is an especially good boat activity choice if you find yourself in the Nashville area because the showboat is one of the largest showboat cruises in the country, and it features nationally acclaimed musical shows.
Another benefit of catching a show on a boat is the fact that most shows also come with a meal. Save a little money and catch a lunch show or go all out and grab dinner aboard a boat. Either way, you’ll undoubtedly have an unforgettable experience.
Go Fishing
Love to fish? Or maybe you’re traveling with some kids who would love to cast a line out into the water? Doing it from a boat is a lot different than doing it from the shore!
Renting a fishing charter is a great way to spend the day when you’re on vacation. When you hire a reputable fishing boat captain, they’ll teach you the right way to cast a line into the water, and they will know exactly where to look so everyone catches at least one fish.
Hiring a charter is an especially good idea if you want to have a unique fishing experience. For example, head out on a coastal boat and try your hand at catching a marlin if you’re vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico or Kona, Hawaii.
Do Some Wildlife Watching
Love the idea of getting a little closer to nature on a boat, but don’t want to have to cast a line and catch a fish? Consider doing some wildlife watching instead.
Heading out on a boat and doing some whale watching is something everyone should add to their bucket list. However, it isn’t just whales that you can get up close and personal with on vacation. Consider taking a boat and gliding with wild dolphins or lean over the boat and admire sharks from afar.
Riverboats are a great place to see wildlife too! Boating on a river means you also have the chance to glimpse other kinds of animals, like birds.
Do Some Watersports
Vacationing on a boat doesn’t mean sitting and catching a show or waiting for a fish to bite. There is plenty you can do on a boat if you want to be more active.
There are many different kinds of watersports to choose from, and many of them involve gliding along behind a boat. A few different options include:
- Waterskiing
- Barefoot skiing
- Kneeboarding
- Wakeboarding
- Tubing
- Parasailing
Don’t feel nervous if you haven’t waterskied or kneeboarded before. Many groups that head out on the water include lessons from an expert, so you can learn a new skill and have fun while you’re on vacation.
Stay the Night
Why get off the boat if you don’t have to! There are many boats that feature comfortable accommodations so you can stay overnight.
Cruise ships are a popular option. Not only do they act as your hotel, activities are also included, which means all you have to do is hop on the boat and enjoy yourself.
Cruise ships aren’t the only place where you can stay overnight. There are a lot of opportunities to stay the night on a boat! For example, you can take an overnight boat tour off the coast of Australia and do a night dive on the Great Barrier Reef.
Some unique bed and breakfasts have been built on boats too, if you want to stay in a boat that is comfortably docked on shore!
If you’re looking for something fun to do the next time you’re on vacation, hop on a boat. With these ideas, you’ll find plenty to do to keep you entertained on the water!
I’m glad that you talked about how the list goes endless when it comes to choosing things that we’ll do on our next vacation. Some of my friends have been insisting to visit Myrtle Beach but I’m not sure yet if I’ll go. Maybe I can check some floating Tiki boat tours and other activities that we can do around the area.
