Interview with Okanagan foraging with professional forager Scott Moran. Subscribe to The Okanagan Podcast where you get your podcasts.
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at foraging in the wild? It can be intimidating and for good reason with so many potentially harmful and poisonous mushrooms. It is best to leave it to the professionals! But if you do want to see how they do it you can take a tour with Okanagan forager, Scott Moran.
Scott first began foraging with his family back in 1999 when he was 9 years old. Finding a real passion for the hunt, he branched out to the UK working for a company called Forager learning the operations of a professional foraging company.
Today, Scott picks and sells his local wild produce to some of the best Okanagan restaurants. You can also purchase directly from his shop or find him at the Kelowna Farmers’ Market. On Sundays he brings guests out to the wilderness to his coveted spots for wild asparagus, lily spears and even cat tails which he reveals makes an excellent cucumber-tasting cocktail.
