Benefits of visiting wine bars
Wine bars offer a unique and intimate setting for wine enthusiasts to explore and enjoy a wide variety of wines. Frankly, I have been burned too many times by poor wine offerings at the hotel or casino bars. I much prefer to get my wine from a restaurant, wine bar or even an ABC/grocery store to ensure that my wine isn’t absolutely terrible. You’re able to drink on the strip as long as you don’t have a glass – so it needs to be plastic or something that won’t break and cause injury – like these travel wine tumblers.
Howver, unlike traditional restaurants, wine bars focus primarily on their wine offerings, ensuring a curated selection that caters to different tastes and preferences. With knowledgeable staff and a relaxed atmosphere, wine bars provide the perfect environment for discovering new wines, expanding your palate, and engaging in conversations with fellow wine lovers.
In addition to the exceptional wine selection, wine bars often offer a range of delicious food pairings, enhancing the overall experience. From artisanal cheese boards to gourmet charcuterie platters, these delectable bites perfectly complement the diverse flavours and aromas found in the wines. Visiting a wine bar allows you to indulge in a sensory journey that combines the pleasures of taste, smell, and ambiance, creating a memorable and enjoyable outing.
For those looking to expand their wine knowledge, wine bars often host educational events, such as tastings and workshops, led by sommeliers or wine experts. These events provide a unique opportunity to learn about different grape varieties, wine regions, and winemaking techniques. Whether you’re a wine novice or a seasoned connoisseur, the educational aspect of wine bars adds an enriching dimension to your wine-tasting experience.
Our 5 favourite wine bars in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is home to an array of exceptional wine bars, each with its own unique charm and offerings. Here are our top 5 of the top wine bars in the city that are sure to impress even the most discerning wine aficionados.
La Cave Wine Bar in The Wynn Hotel & Casino
Located on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, La Cave Food & Wine Hideaway is a must-visit destination for wine lovers. This elegant establishment boasts a fantastic brunch (weekends) or dinner menu alongside housing a solid collection of both domestic and international wines. The knowledgeable staff at La Cave Food & Wine Hideaway are always eager to share their expertise with guests. The interior is a small and intimate setting that gives the vibe of a wine cellar with dim lighting. While the patio seating is surrounded by gardens and sunlight. La Cave is our go-to for a great glass of wine and good food guaranteed.
Wally’s inside Resorts World
In addition to its remarkable wine selection with 100 wines available by the glass, Wally’s offers a bustling ambiance inside Resort’s World mall so it is ideal for people watching. Not only can you enjoy caviar, cheese and charcuterie but also an list of dishes that include truffles; Pizza, gnocchi, brie, Bolognese, etc. It is relaxed and vibrant, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine of which there are 100 different wines to choose from, ALL available by the glass. Whether you’re in the mood for a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon or a crisp Chardonnay, Wally’s truly has a wine to suit every preference. An added bonus, you can shop the wines, cheese and charcuterie with unique items in their shopping area!
One thing you should note, as we experienced from our stay at Resorts World, only credit cards or debit cards are accepted. The entire resort is cashless, aside from the casino of course.
Allé Lounge on 66
If you’ve found your way to Wally’s inside Resorts World then you should try and make an effort to go to Allé Lounge on 66. Located on the 66th floor, reservations highly recommended as it boasts one of the best views of the strip! It is popular for their cocktail list but this bar also provides an extensive list of wines from the USA, Europe and Australia. If you snag a reservation or stop at this bar be sure to note that it is a minimum 2 drink order per person.
Garagiste Wine Room & Merchant
Garagiste, a French term meaning small scale wine producers, is a wine room and merchant. You’ll find unusual, small boutique offerings that don’t conform to tradition. The Garagiste wine room is smaller and the menu reflects that with only 3 charcuterie plates but a long list of wines by the glass. An added bonus, if you get your wine to go the bottles are 50% off of dine in pricing.
Eataly at Park MGM
More of a pull up and order experience, at Park MGM you can find the Eataly food court. With over 12 authentic Italian eateries you can find something for everyone. How does it work? You can find your way to a restaurant, reservations recommended, or you can find an empty seat or high top at one of the kiosk-style eateries. What I love about the seating is that one person can order from the charcuterie kiosk and another can select their steak at another – each will be provided with a buzzer when their dishes are ready. Many of the kiosks have beer and wine to order as well. They’re offerings may differ at each but they are all Italian. One discovery I made during my last visit to Las Vegas was that Sicily has incredible white wine!
Las Vegas is not only a playground for entertainment and indulgence but also a haven for wine enthusiasts.
